One of the first tasks the Crafton
Historical Society undertook was publishing the community’s
history for the 1992 centennial. The resulting book, The Story of
Crafton by Betsy Martin, chronicles significant developments in
the borough's history, famous people associated with the borough,
and the history of organizations, churches, businesses and schools.
It also highlights the changes in the borough's stability as it
grew older and the current swing toward preservation.
The Story of
Crafton received an Award of Merit from the Pennsylvania Federation
of Museums and Historical Organizations, and a Certificate of Commendation
from the American Association for State and Local History, whose
awards program is the nation's most prestigious competition for
recognizing achievement in the preservation and interpretation of
local, state and regional history.
Now in its second printing,
The Story of Crafton is available for purchase. Check the CHS
Store for details.
