2010 House Tour and Restoration and Renovation Fair | ![]()

In 2008, Clancy learned from a family member that the house of her dreams was once again for sale. Clancy’s landlord had sold it in the 1990’s to a family who returned it to a single-family dwelling and made some nice improvements. The house was the Junior League’s 1999 Designer’s Show Home. It has also been the venue for two of the Historical Society’s Christmas Galas. Two years ago Clancy’s dream became a reality. Since purchasing the house, Clancy has replaced dozens of windows, repaired leaded glass doors, painted some walls while moving others, installed or refurbished bathrooms and returned the outside porches and grounds to their former grandeur. She plans to show the house with its dining room table set with her mother’s china and the breakfast room dressed in her grandmother’s dishes. Both Clancy and the visitors will feel justifiably satisfied with the results of her restoration efforts. No. 8 Alice Street is just one of the six homes and an impressive church chosen by the Crafton Historical Society for its “Pride and Preservation Tour” on Sunday, May 16, 2010. Visitors can view this elegant home and the other beautiful and interesting buildings between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. The second annual Home Restoration and Renovation Fair featuring craftsmen and businesses involved in the restoration and maintenance of homes will be held at the same time in the Community Center. Tickets covering both the Tour and the Fair can be purchased for $10 online, at the Crafton Library Bake Sale on Friday and Saturday May 14-15 and at the Crafton Community Center adjacent to the Crafton Borough Building from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the day of the events. All are welcome.
